This wedding had it all!
I met this creative couple whilst filming their friends Steph and Rob’s wonderful wedding in the South of France. They told me that they weren’t actually planning to have a videographer at their wedding, but after seeing Steph and Rob’s sneak peek on Instagram, I was delighted to receive a message that they wanted to book me for their own big day!
As we got chatting and details emerged, I soon realised this was going to be quite an epic celebration with a very unique couple. Despite taking only 6 months to plan, I wasn’t disappointed!
The Welsh Wedding Venues chosen for this garden-inspired, boho wedding
Getting ready at Kinmel Arms
I spent the morning at the lovely Kinmel Arms in Abergele, Wales where Laura and her bridal party got ready for her big day. This was the perfect laid-back, yet luxurious setting for a stress-free morning of hair and makeup. Laura had chosen a beautifully delicate and elegant wedding dress with an illusion neckline. This gorgeous Pronovias gown appeared to be designed for Laura, with every inch of it showing off her stunning feminine figure. Accompanied by a loose, but volumous updo and cathedral length veil, this bride was sure to impress her groom. The bridesmaids also looked flawless in floor-length, modern-grey dresses, with matching updos and hair accessories.
The drinks were flowing and the laughs non-stop. It was obvious that this was going to be a fun and eventful day, even before lashes were applied or curls were set.
The ceremony at Llanasa Parish Church
Will, the groom, was ready and eagerly awaiting his bride at Llanasa Parish church. Looking suave in tail coats and playful poker dot ties, the Groom and his groomsmen were all sporting matching smiles, as well as suits.
This couple clearly know how to celebrate their love in style, both parties arrived at the church in matching Rolls Royce’s.
After the all-important I dos, I filmed the fun confetti throw outside the church. Any sign of nerves were now gone and Laura and Will were both beaming from ear to ear.
A marquee wedding reception at Bodrhyddan Hall
After a beautiful ceremony, the bride and groom, along with their guests made their way to Bodrhyddan Hall. Blessed with warm sunshine and a gentle Summer’s breeze, Laura and Will enjoyed the best part of the day outdoors, whilst a marquee offered a more personal space for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The boho theme shone through here and with an eye for what looks good, Laura and Will had opted for a minimal table-scape using only pillar candles, neutral linen and timeless foliage. Contemporary, ceiling-hung garlands welcomed the outside-in and kept a natural and outdoorsy feel to this boho, garden-inspired wedding. This bride and groom perfected the country-garden-meets-boho wedding style that has dominated Instagram for the past 2 years.
A surprise for the bride and groom
Once seated, Laura's very successful a capella group Elle and the Pocketbelles surprised Will and sang a re-written version of Mr Sandman by The Chordettes. This talented group have performed at festivals as well as recently appearing on Sky One's ‘Sing: Ultimate A Cappella' hosted by Cat Deeley. Their version called ‘Mr Barnsley’ took everyone by surprise with its beautifully harmonic story all about the special couple. Whilst Laura no longer performs with the group, they have remained close friends which was clear to see. I believe this surprise performance will remain a highlight of the day amongst all the guests.
See if you can get through this short clip of the performance without smiling ear to ear...
Burying the Bourbon – A Tennessee wedding tradition
Laura then made a speech where she introduced this popular tradition amongst Southern-American brides, where they would bury a bottle of bourbon at their wedding venue one month before they get married. This is an old, but fun tradition that is supposed to wish you good luck and good health for the future. It is also said to keep rain away on your wedding day - which clearly worked in this case! On the day of the wedding, the bride and groom then dig up the bourbon to drink and enjoy with their friends and family. Guests were delighted to hear of this fun tradition that Laura and Will chose to partake in and everyone enjoyed a shot of good quality whisky after Will carefully but confidently dug it up from the ground.
Marquee wedding entertainment Ideas
There was also a slow-motion photo booth for guests to enjoy. By this point everyone had fallen into the fun and relaxed flow of the day and they were more than happy to snap some silly shots whilst rocking the fun props.
Cutting the cake and first dance
No less than 4 tiers of iced perfection with cascading pale pink and yellow roses for this stylish couple. The cake was a spectacular, show-stopping piece created by Sarah from Cheshire Wedding Cakes. It was clearly the work of a very talented and artistic baker. The sounds of enjoyment from around the room confirmed that it must have tasted quite delicious too!
The bride and groom then shared their first dance as newlyweds, before the dance floor was filled with guests, all dancing and enjoying the music. Smiles all around, you couldn’t help but be taken in by the fun, happiness and love surrounding such a special couple.
Wedding day fireworks for an explosive send off
What a magical way to end a fabulous day. The impressive colours and explosions lighting up the sky allowed the bride and groom to take a romantic moment together to appreciate the day.
Congrats to the special couple!
Laura and Will clearly know how to have a good time and what’s more, is they know how to throw one hell of a wedding that won’t be forgotten by any of their guests!
I had the time of my life filming this special day. The surprises and fun events just kept coming and whilst I felt so lucky to be the one to film and capture this wedding, choosing which footage to feature in the films was no easy task! I was spoilt for choice when it came to precious, loving moments between the bride and groom, laughter amongst the guests and footage of the whimsical décor and personalised details.
Congratulations Laura and Will. On your marriage, your wedding planning skills, your sense of style and your ability to take a wedding trend and completely own it. I know without a doubt that you will share a long and laughter-filled future together surrounded by loving friends and family!
